Nail B2B Marketing on Instagram | Boost Following & Engagement

Written by Pixel Lab | June 9, 2019

No matter the size or success of your business, you can no longer afford to ignore the importance of having a strong social media presence.

One common misconception is that social media marketing doesn’t work for B2B brands. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

One of the most vital platforms to have a presence on is Instagram. With over 800 million monthly users, if you are not using Instagram, you could be missing a pretty big trick.

We’ve put together some of our top tips for nailing your Instagram strategy below.

1. Use authentic content.

Don’t just post a constant feed of stock imagery. These won’t interest, excite or engage anyone who sees your posts. Show a human side to your business, behind the scene snapshots of your day-to-day office life so people feel they have a genuine connection to your brand rather than an automated or robotic one.

2. Mix it up.

Mix up your content and don’t be predictable. You only have seconds to excite somebody on Instagram, don’t waste that time by posting something that’s low impact and the same as everyone else. You will stick in people’s minds as forward thinking and exciting if you are posting different things each time.

3. Get involved in your niche.

Don’t be afraid to look at what other people in your market are doing on social media. See what works well and what doesn’t and don’t be afraid to join in on any conversations happening that may relate to your business. Getting your name out there and recognised is a great way to build brand awareness.

4. Make the most of the link in your bio.

If you have over 10,000 followers, you can add a clickable link in your stories, which will last for 24 hours. If you don’t have a following of this size, like many SME businesses, you only have one clickable link on your Instagram profile and that is in your bio. This can take you anywhere, to your website, to a contact form, anywhere you like but you must make the most of it. Consumers value speed and ease take them directly to the page you want them to land on. Don’t force them to navigate their way through your site to find out the information that they need.

The amount of likes or clicks your posts get and the number of followers you have is interesting to know, but it can become an obsession that won’t provide any use to your social media strategy. Getting lots of likes is great, but you want your audience to be genuinely engaged with your posts. Instead, focus on the comments on your posts, or how many times your post has been sent from one person to another. These metrics show genuine engagement and let you know you’re on the right track with your social media strategy.
